There is a big difference between being cruel and being helpful. Very often I see the former. I don't post my code, so this isn't about me. It's about what I see from others.

I can sense your frustration; I feel similarly. I got a degree in Psychology of all things, which makes my self-taught programming skills even less desirable compared to most. Reason I went to shipping my own code for clients and customers

I've been there (as an employer), and because my boss often made it very difficult for me to hire when I needed to (always based on current billing instead of future billing), I had to be very particular because I knew that if I chose poorl

I also had struggles trying to find work as a jr dev, so eventually I gave up to start building my own software and work on the consulting side. It's strange because I see a lot of jr. guys/gals struggle to find mentorship, yet those very s

Why do articles that paint Romney in a bad light keep making it to the front page of HN? Is it hacker bias? The election is over, enough with the gloating.

Coming from a launch that had its own share of issues, I can say that things like these happen for a variety of reasons: 1. Developers overestimate their capabilities 2. Developers underestimate timelines 3. Client overestimates developer t

So are you going to seek to raise money eventually, or try to bootstrap?

Interesting post. Seems like you were affected by the standard SV MO - worry about profitability later, only after you'd scaled your user base. Sounds like you're still a believer. What is your plan now?

Man, had to stop after the cigarette comment and ask - What is it with people in SF smoking? When I visited I felt like I spent my entire day walking through a cloud of smoke. So odd for me to see programmers that smoke. Just can't reconcil

I agree. I'm fortunate in that my wife understands that I'm sacrificing our personal life for a bigger future. I had a job and bootstrapped our company during this time, but had to work 12 hour days for 16 months. Winning often requires sac

This is why I don't fly Southwest...I hate their first come first serve policy. Essentially what this does is play smart and check you in early so you get a good seat. I don't see how it's any different than setting an alert to remind you t

Reaching down in terms of price point. That's a very saturated market, and for once, they are late to the game. They should stick with the high price points and quality devices.

Am I the only one disappointed that Apple is reaching down to cater to this market? As a consumer, yeah I get it...7" is smaller. But I'm just fine with my iPhone when looking to interact with a smaller screen. As a developer, Android isn't

I didn't equate his post to that, I'm saying that that's the path we're on with much of this. I'd rather bootstrap revenues by iterating on my product.

Thanks for the mention Dylan. Just a little background: We spent months looking for a solution like this, and when we didn't find it, decided to make it. Still in beta, but have big plans in the space.
