There’s not much work on a pure Servo browser beyond experiment. They’ve just various uplifted Servo bits like webrenderer and stylo into Gecko.

Not sure where the rebound is, the trending numbers show a strong decline even since the article. It’s even more bleak when you factor in mobile.

It’s unfortunately already been the case. Mozilla’s money comes directly from Google and Google has had the heavy hand over all web standards decisions for years now.

It was quite a bit different then. IE was in the "first mover" batch. Chrome is the "last mover". It was easy to knock out the first mover as things had stalled yet there was still lots of innovation to be done. But brow

I'd kinda agree. As described in Zero to One, to convince shift users to adopt, you need a product that is an order of magnitude superior to the incumbent. Incremental changes or parity mostly won't cut it. A browser would have to

It is pretty fast for me. Although there is some vested interest, although indirectly. Decisions are still tied to money, which is why Google has traditionally been the default search engine in Firefox.

It's still falling even after the Quantum push. It's dipped under 5% total market share and under 9% on desktop. Losing a percentage point every several months.

Nothing really to do with VR itself. If anything VR is more favorable for an indie developer as there are less titles on the stores and a more fervent / willing base of users (for desktop VR users), and more room to be creative with in

You hold a needle with fingers, but you also need to handle it up, down, left, right and rotate it pitch, roll, yaw. Lot more analog than pressing fixed buttons.

No. I mentioned "I think that's totally okay" and natural. My main point was only that Mozilla Corporation behaves as a corporation, internally and externally, not a non-profit foundation. They do have an external-facing miss

Not true from my point of view, people have the same criticisms of their government as you'd see in any other country. Chinese people aren't like brainwashed.
