The article above is about the American University system (and non-STEM degrees at that). If it's different in the EU it's not particularly relevant.

The average PhD stipend is around 30k, even for high COL areas. If you have an undergraduate degree (especially if you've incurred debt to do so) it's not a particularly attractive option. Especially true considering how competiti

Well sure -- if you can afford to spend six years of your life dedicated to a hobby by all means do so. Most people aren't afforded that luxury and need to worry about the practical applications of a PhD.

If I could re-do my college degree I would have taken as few computer science courses as possible. Most of the important stuff I picked up along the way anyways. It's the random classes like Japanese Lit and Organizational Behavior tha

I often think the only type of collapse we can expect is if we can develop a generalized AI capable of writing code. If we do that, no profession is safe -- what need is there for doctors if we have AI that can identify disease and treat sy

They're not invented by Angular but for each and everyone one I have to learn how to do it the "Angular way", usually with an Angular-specific API. That's why it's over-engineered.

To understand why people say Angular is over-engineered Google something simple like "Angular http request". You'll end up at this page: https://angular.io/guide/http It's almost comical. I can'

Same, I really don't like the mental overhead of having to learn the template syntax. I already know JavaScript, just let me use that.

What bothers me most is the fake was incredibly lazy. It came in a plain white box with the brand I ordered stamped on one corner. The product inside looked completely different and was from a "brand" that I can't find sold o

I think it's the opposite. Angular1 was obviously dead on it's feet, and I respect Angular2 for admitting that. If anything I wish they had gone further and cleaned up some of the other smells around the Angular ecosystem. My real

I agree that the type checker isn't that useful but I still use TypeScript for two reasons: 1. Accurate autocomplete. 2. Typing my domain models so they play well with autocomplete.
