Yeah, I've had a few CS friends and internet people say things like that, like there is probably some programmer who solved the NP problem but no one knows it and of course there's the elite hacker who can do anything he wants thi

I would say you are a relatively rare case though. Most people I've seen primarity socialize with people of the same race. Not strictly, obviously, but in general. Like in tech circles in the Bay Area, you have the white, indian, east

Yes, it's been 2 years since the problem has been publicised and discussed but fake news is still widespread. So clearly it is a difficult problem that is hard to fix. But stop talking about it like you just discovered that fake news e

You talk like you have been living under a rock for the past three years. Trump got politically famous through the birther movement. Most of the people who support Trump believe in a lot of these rumors, as you call them, or fake news, as t

Really? Politically correct Chinese culture seem to emphasize multiculturalism, from me going to Chinese shows and such held in the US and Singapore.

Still, Americans are vulnerable to propaganda just like all populations are. And pretending that people can't be affected by propaganda because they'll think their way out of it is a dumb position to take.

I don't think "Americans will figure out that something is propaganda" is a reasonable position to take. After all Russian propaganda via the internet was very effective, look at the 2016 election, and native American militar

Hah...it's funny how they pretend to give objective rationales for choosing Swift when it's pretty clear the decision was made long before.

Haha yeah, I've actually clicked on the dislike button for comments I hated, even after I knew it doesn't do anything, and I have felt better.

YouTube comment dislikes are actually there only for show. The dislikes don't get counted for comments at all. They could do the same thing for the videos.

Yep. It's incredible how you can have a reasonably intelligent discussion in 4chan, while in reddit and similar vote based sites, once the mob comes to visit the site, they take over and no one can have a good discussion anymore.

Wow, you are completely misinterpreting what he said here. Either that or you're repeating what other idiots on the internet said. Any CS undergrad would understand that he was making a joke when he said that.

Agreed. I've seen cases where you had niche subreddits containing people who are somewhat experts, but when the sub gets remotely popular, it gets bombarded by people who don't know anything but feel like they can post whatever us

Metaprogramming has a specific technical meaning that has to do with code that reads or generates code. Try not to parse the word metaprogramming itself.

Empty range is 1:0 or a+1:a or a:a-1 for any integer a. Closed ranges (for integers) are equivalent to open ranges since [a,b] is the same as [a,b+1). You just put the plus ones in the right places.

I don't buy it. Inclusive ranges are much more intuitive than left side inclusive and right side exclusive ranges. And they compose just fine; you just have to add a plus one at the right places. E.g. function mean(a, l, r)

Because people get depressed when they can't program in their favorite language? Frankly, ridiculous. A job is a job and the main question is whether you can do it or not.
