Personally, I like having my dev environment and my note-taking environment be the same. I finely tune VS Code to do what I want and I miss those features when I'm editing elsewhere. If I setup configuration or plugin that's non-o

Foam doesn't take a very prescriptivist approach. A flat directory is the path of least resistance but you can put things in to separate directories. Personally, I store all of my daily notes in a separate folder and everything else in

I think this is a fantastic idea and will be trying it out with some friends later! The only issue for me is the pricing. The free tier is great for getting your feet wet but the $99 is too expensive for me to consider since I would only be

Personally, I moved from Obsidian to Foam: https://foambubble.github.io/foam/ VS Code is a much better editor, in my opinion, and I enjoy having the entire VS Code ecosystem of plugins available to me

I am 100% for reducing the amount of cars on the road but this logic doesn't really work when you've driven in from out of town and there aren't sufficient parking garages.

You can use guard functions to validate external data. This same problem comes up in other statically typed languages. You can't guarantee that external data will be in the shape that you expect so you must validate it. If you're

I'm trying to wrap my head around this > Even better, you can define relations between the types and do type substitutions, e.g.: to construct this module, you need to give me 2 other modules, each with a specific set of functions,

I don't want to be that guy but I originally thought the CSS was broken. Harsh black on harsh white, everything squeezed in to the left third of my screen, and an unused scrollbar on the bottom. That being said, I love the information.

> VS Code will load quickly but every single goto def will take ages. I wouldn't blame that on VS Code but on the relevant extension. Go to Definition is instantaneous for me when I'm working in TypeScript

I get real-time debugging, refactoring, and granular test running/debugging in VS Code. I also work almost exclusively in TypeScript, F#, and Rust. My anecdata says that this argument isn't very accurate.

Why is it so difficult to find example code? The very first thing that every programming language website should show is an example. Show me what sets your language apart from the others and let me see if I like the syntax.

I have a similar device and while it's good for quick scribbling, it's really frustrating that you can't erase. The only option is to clear the whole screen. Still nice for quick whiteboarding though

I wholeheartedly disagree. Two spaces and the One True Brace style is my preferred way of working. Blocks are easy to identify based on indentation. This is exactly why auto-formatters are the best solution. Then there's no need to hav
