I'm not sure it could. That is, it would sell some at many ranges because it's unique. But I do think price sensitivity will be huge here. In other words, I am guessing every dollar they knock off the price tag will mean a big difference in

I think that there may be floodgates open if the right keys go in the right locks. One problematic issue is accreditation/validation. Part of the reason vocational training is so different is because of this. This could work for a wide rang

A lot of what I do revolves around online advertising. Some things, such as redesigning sites & the like (which is also really a form of online advertising) have softened a little. Things like Adwords have gone sideways: Some reducing s

You seem to assume this is a win/lose game rather then (as the article suggests) a huge market that can be split into slices.

Exactly. I don't expect any wins to come because just Linux is cheaper . It needs to be better or easier in some ways. Better battery life. More complete out of the box. Something like that. It can if it makes the net books cheaper by ru

I think you have to look at this comparatively though. The number of rich people is by definition small. To make a comparison worth anything at all is a problem. While you might or might not like thinking of VCs as a filter, they do perform

Are you sure that's a good way of deciding? To take investment you need to be able to convince someone that yours is a good investment. Your pool of people that could have done this at some point may be heavily weighted towards those tat

For me, I find them useful. In many cases, the ads are what I want. When I think about it, I often phrase my search term in a way that will bring up the ads I want. It's sort of semi-conscious. I am probably a bad example though because I a

Marxism and YEC have about the same level of validity OK, but your reasoning is still flawed. There is an all-out, bitter war going on between property (connections, inherited wealth, resources) and energy (talent, ambition, hard work)

I think one class of mistake we are going to hear all the time is that arguments from music applied to ebooks. One example is the case for against copyright protection for authors.

Sounds suspiciously like Marxism. Is that a reason to dismiss? This may be a stumble on an idea that Marx would agree with, but noone is asking you to accept marxism wholesale. 'Sounds suspiciously like..', is a defensive way of thinking.

Noise is also what you are not used to seeing. Yahoo!'s loho & drop down boxes & hints seem a lot more noisy. I think part of it is because they are. But part of it is because unfamiliar is noisier then familiar.

A less weasely example might be the company simply deciding to take a loss or very low margin at low volumes to enable faster growth. That might make sense for them because they have an open ended upside. It doesn't for whoever makes a cut.
