If you moved the entire population of the Earth to the United States and spread it out evenly, there would only be about 2000 people/square mile (7% as dense as New York City). So not overpopulation as much as everyone wanting to live

Who's we? Your decision to give certain beats more or less emphasis is a subjective one. You can glean absolutely no information about a piece from the way the rhythm is subdivided, except maybe the intended tempo.

Well this gets subjective almost immediately, but in a general sense, not closely related to one instrument, I think of phrases as the music within the length of time (la dee da dee dum), as opposed to the length of time itself (1234, 1234)

In an effort not to be snarky, my point is that rhythm is fractal and these are essentially just two different levels of magnification. You're absolutely right that there are conventions and implications in how they are written, but t

(1) 2 3 | (1) 2 3 and (1) 2 3 (4) 5 6 are rhythmically identical. You're only conceptualizing them differently. Anyway, thank you for taking the time to write this myopic and extremely condescending explanation of my area of study. I

There is no difference between 3/4 and 6/8 unless you are trying to decide on which one makes your score easier to read. It's just different ways of conceptualizing the phrase. Mathematically (and therefore rhythmically) th

I am so happy to see some of these predators get caught. A former coworker, a very smart but also very naive network engineer from the middle east, was hooked by these people shortly after immigrating. They said they were the US governmen

The main thing that irks me on Macs is the non-standard behavior of the Home and End keys. I expect them to go the beginning or end of the line I'm typing, and in every other system they do, whereas in MacOS they usually scroll to the

I've noticed some sites hijacking Alt-ArrowKeys now, too. Since backspace was deprecated, that means those websites prevent the user from using the keyboard to go Back. Very frustrating.

Turning off location history in your account settings is also important, but turning off location services on your phone will prevent the messages from appearing (since Google will, in theory, not have your location readily available).
