I miss when you could rate how much you liked something after a watch and they could incorporate that. Now it's just kinda "how long did you watch it and who else watched it" which seems less nuanced?

Torrent trackers. Basically the index that let's your search for and find torrents, private ones are invite only. Common for rare music or better sources of films, and so on.

When I do pay for services, they can just add ads anyway to get more money. Look at Netflix or Amazon prime for this, or even cable. How do I pay for something with a guarantee they'll leave the ad money on the table? I pay for Ars, I

When was it put up to a vote? I don't recall many national elections where I was asked my opinion about issues, only to choose between two options. And most of the time between one option really.

I wonder why companies do run new fiber in the US in cities, given all this? I got underground fiber direct to the basement of a student apartment years ago and it was basically a hundred dollars for install fees. They must have already bee

Ketones have some dieting and weight loss applications, so I guess you could do better real time tracking of how you're digesting carbs and when it's okay to eat? maybe

I think all the big targets for this kind of thing have the legal or government muscle to get in your way? Millions of people usually don't agree on someone dying unless they're powerful.

They have those payouts for check marks? A lot of people post click bait for views to bring in small amounts of money, usually from a poorer country I think

If you look at the replies to basically any big post, you'll see all the blue checkmark bots in there. Usually just copying posts, sometimes doing a weird ai summary of the original post in a way that isn't actually replying to it

What kind of study could predict the future like this? Every technological change is different each time, I think. For example - at first ATMs created more jobs in banking because employees could move to more complex services. But banks are

I still use a forum like that. You don't need an enormous community to have good discussions - 100 active users creates quite a lot. It's a community issue, not a technical one, but you have to intentionally create the community.

Run a self hosted forum or instance of whatever you like, and just only let people sign up if they are recommended by someone or can argue their way in, basically. xenforo and some add ons can do that, and I'm sure there's a few s

Pay your credit card balance off every week, and it's an overly complicated debit card but you technically build up a score for future loans. Also maybe you get cash back on that? Rational if you want a mortgage in the US at least.

You still want the virtual mailing address for other reasons honestly. Even if your os isn't tracking you or leaking things giving your real address to any business could lead to it being leaked because no one cares about security, etc
