I love roundabouts. Driving in the UK is a revelation. You just sort of keep going and driving is a bit more fun. The drivers are also better than in the USA. Which is why I think there’s often resistance here. Every time a roundabout is pr

Software engineers fail to unionize because most of them know it’s a bad deal. Tenure in and of itself has 0 to do with your value as a software engineer. But yes your point is right on in that the unions are useless. In large part because

No it’s not. The reason being the public sector Union gets large enough to pick winners. The winner is the person who approves their contract and budget and is likewise incentivized to grow the Union more to secure more votes. It’s a massiv

IT doesn’t traditionally gafe unions in the USA. Teachers are unionized here and are one of the most powerful political forces. They are also a likely reason why so many people here don’t like unions.

Wouldn't there just be a lot of money made by someone offering free filing and then offering to give you your return immediately for a fee of like 10%? Is anyone doing this?

Ahh yeah, I understand your frustration there. It’s sad how some communities choose to spend their taxes and I empathize with you. It’s sad when corrupt and incompetent government pisses away tax revenue instead of making the locality a bet

I figured it was like regular property but after doing brief research, you’re right. It’s more difficult than just walking away as the local government can continue to tax you. But after some time I guess it could be found to be abandon and

You sound like a great community member! Where I live we see tremendous value in the property taxes we pay. The kids get a quality education, the parks are well maintained, the streets are good and the walkways are clean. It’s not cheap but

The IRS has nothing to do with property taxes. Property taxes mainly go to your town and some to your state. They mainly fund your local schools, streets, parks, maintenance, etc. Do you think all these things just magically exist?

Why did Europe do this to themselves? I’ve seen the numbers and I’m sorry, but it isn’t sustainable. Especially when you factor in reproduction rates. Western Europe will be conquered by a caliphate within 100 years. A democratic colonialis

Who pays for those problems to be resolved? It’s literally what property taxes fund. Why would property owners pay to solve a problem they don’t have to make their town a worse place to live?
