Did you read the linked article? It’s not proposing a new tool, just using rules/filtering to categorize into inbox (humans), paper trail, news letters.

Just curious, when you tried explaining to your child the importance of sleep and negative health impacts of late night social media, what was the reaction? I’m curious what led to wifi being turned off rather than kid personally convinced

Awesome story and congratulations! You recommended Rob Walling’s book, Start Small, Stay Small, but what else can I read? And where do “indie hackers” like you hang out on the internet, so that i can learn more about how to do this myself?

Vectors are generated for songs, and distance (nearest neighbors) is how recommendations are currently generated in major apps. But there isn’t a user friendly way for people to browse multi-dimensional vector space. But the embeddings (vec

Elastic makes the bulk of their money from log search. Developer productivity tools like Splunk as main competitor. So that’s where they’ve invested a lot in tooling and visualization.

I’ve noticed a difference in strangers’ friendliness when I’m clean-shaven vs bearded. To the point where if I notice more negative interactions with strangers, I’ll shave, and it immediately gets better.

Imagine you are a real estate company that manages 10s of thousands of properties, and you have people sign an application fee, and then a lease agreement. If it’s trivial to switch over, why not save the 10s of thousands of dollars? Not al

Imagine you had the problem, what do I name my baby? What are things you would google? Where are communities you would hang out? I would start by posting in Reddit communities for expectant parents, and for people interested in naming. For

If this technology was made safe, effective, in patient control, and relatively non-intrusive, would you consider it? I’m imagining an app on your phone where on a day you’re feeling down, you turn it on for a bit.

The cones respond to multiple wavelengths, so it can not be so neatly discretized into “red-green-blue”. It’s more “red/orange/yellow-green-blue/purple”. http://hyperphysics.phy-astr.gsu.edu/hbase/vision&

In front of Zuckerberg’s house in San Francisco, 24 hours a day, there is a man sitting in a black escalade watching his house. That’s not free. I imagine it’s like that across his numerous properties, as well as more who travel with him at

Cool! Nice work! Do you have any performance numbers you could share? Specifically around nearest neighbor computation latency, a regular get embedding latency, read/write rate achieved on a machine?

If a being is killed, it ceases to be. If it has no friends/family who miss its absence, who cares? Death is not immoral, it just is.

Can one get state-of-the-art speeds for Vector/Matrix Arithmetic from a Java application? Or is it necessary to use C++ to be “closer to the metal.”

You are victim blaming, and have low standards. I, for one, would like to live in a city where I can eat/drink outside without fear of someone stealing my food.

My wild guess is JIDF [1], or a similar organization, is using multiple accounts to flag posts as violating community standards. Once it reaches a certain threshold of “downvotes”, some algorithm by Twitter/Instagram hides the content.

This example assumes you only have $1 to bet, and if you lose it, you’re out of the game. I wonder what happens to the simulated outcome if you can keep betting, even if you lose.

Why do fungi generate electricity after deformation? Or asked differently, what information is encoded in that electrical pulse? Presumably, evolutionarily, fungi developed transmitting information via mycelium to other connected fungi. But
