Short version is - I both automatically back up a lot of data and manually export items from Android, and also use the app to grab files (i.e. PDFs or audio) that I don't necessarily want persisted. My understanding from the parent is

This is my main issue with using something like Syncthing. I have several computers that I use daily - a Windows machine for some work and most of my music, a Linux box as my daily driver, and my Andriod phone/tablets for watching vide

> For MuseScore to go in this direction implies that they must be thinking they're already nailing the notation side. They're not. There's still a lot of work to do. It's passable, but it's not 100% yet. When you

I agree. I have recently started taking composition lessons for large bands (e.g. 18 pieces), and I've been using MuseScore as my main tool. Seeing it go the way of a DAW is disappointing, because there's a fundamental difference

I think it's going to be difficult to sustain without either strong leadership or strong collective decision making ; my gut tells me it's going to go the way of Zuccoti Park rather Christiana. It would be nice if it could sustain

To add to this, vim quickfix-reflector ( https://github.com/stefandtw/quickfix-reflector.vim ) was life-changing for me. It lets you modify and save code from the quickfix buffer, so when you search for something and it

Got it - that makes sense. I actually ended up with a smattering of the version problems when I was working with pipenv for the first time, and figured it was my fault in some way because I hadn't set up the "correct" python

I started using the pipenv this weekend and it seems like it's pretty good for at least maintaining an environment within a project. I found it friendly at least. That being said, I'll admit I don't know much about what it me

oh! That's good to know. I just plopped it in there because I needed to get work done, and the start menu/desktop metaphor was enough to get me moving. I haven't even changed the defaults.

I agree with this. I'd been struggling with using Xmonad et. al. on the desktop for years, figuring that there was something wrong with how I was doing it, hacking on the config to get it just right . Then the pandemic happened, and

Okay - I wasn't meaning to pick a fight here. Just saying that there are definite use cases where spaces in variable names can work and actually be useful. That's all.

At Goldman, the internal language Slang has spaces in variable names. It's insane at first glance and I got into an argument with my manager about why in the world this was acceptable, and he could give me no other answer than "th

I've been scripting stuff on the pipeline for over a decade and haven't really run into this much. You can define a field separator in the command line with the environment variable IFS - i.e. 'IFS=$(echo -en "\n\b"

I didn't see this posted in this thread, but by far the most useful thing I've seen with tmux is the "send-keys" command - https://blog.damonkelley.me/2016/09/07/tmux-send-keys/ This

That's exactly what this is - it's a small DSL that evaluates to create triggers at moments in time. These triggers are then evaluated by an endpoint (like the sampler included with tidal) to make sound.
