I use a thinkpad-style keyboard and my mouse is on the homerow. It feels like that is much more efficient than this, as you get the precision of the mouse without having to move your hand. I don't understand why more people don't

Different states are not different countries, and, if I may be so bold, the U.S. should be held to a higher standard than theocratic states or dictatorships.

You can / should change the sensitivity so it doesn't require so much force. I like it to move all the way across the screen with very little effort ; if you're getting finger strain, you should look into its settings.

I agree with the sibling comment. There's no real alternative to the trackpoint. Nothing comes close, but the initial hour or so of using it is weird ; frankly, I don't remember it because I did it about 20 years or so ago, but ev

This is a learned skill, and it's on the listener to not take the criticism personally if it's not directed personally. I had to do this at my last job, and let me tell you, once you get over the hump of criticizing ideas instead

Ugh I over thought this and had a really basic word in the mix of my super silly sat vocab words - by my estimate this was different, but not by their metric.

The external keyboard probably makes it tolerable, but yeah, it's likely hard to deal with. I'd love to see how it works in practice, and how long the author keeps it up.

I'm actually really curious about this setup. Can you go into a bit more detail about how it works ?

9/11 blue is such a distinct color, and it's seared into my brain. It's so intwined with the day, it's part of the permanent collection at the museum: https://www.911memorial.org/connect/blog/tr

icewm is a bit different, but it has a "windows95" type theme that, while it doesn't look nearly as good, is insanely functional. I've found it to be a window manager that is easy to script, easy to use, and gets out of

Agreed 100%. I saw this and immediately fell in love. This is incredible and I'm super stoked to see how it comes out.

I was going to say - that's basically what emacs is . It's a LISP machine that has an initial set of applications built in for editing text.

Yep ! The mouse isn't a mouse if it's on the home row. :) Not enough people got behind the trackpoint in its day and it makes me sad that it's not the default mouse input for programmers.

Institutions striving for equity within a white supremacist framework does not mean that the framework is not white supremacist. It means, instead, that institutions have recognized the imbalance and are doing a small part to correct it.

Android handsets aren't really linux boxes. I can't ssh into them, I can't write little python scripts, etc. An actual, general purpose, real foss portable phone factor computer will be amazing as it matures.

That's how I'm seeing this - as a mini linux computer with the ability to make calls and send text messages at some point in the future. Just a linux computer with a cellular modem sounds amazing to me, tbh.
