That's what I meant, sorry. Japanese Jiu Jitsu isn't really full contact. You get ancillary knocks and bumps in BJJ (catching a knee in side mount, or screwing up a takedown and bonking yourself), and while they're not that b

I had a similar thing with jiu-jitsu in my 30s. It's fairly low-impact as combat sports go (which is great!), but I had been playing other sports (judo and wrestling) for the majority of my life and those have periodic non-concussive i

Thanks! I think I can manage this with using email I've already set up, e.g. installing mutt and pointing to a different smtp server, so I'm not too worried about that, but it's good to know.

I don't find this helpful. There's the idea of "well, we can't continue doing what we're doing if we want the Earth to continue to be hospitable" even if these predictions are false. While individually we can

I feel like there's a middle ground here. I've mentioned in other threads that my team does (and had done previous to the pandemic bc we were distributed already) a daily teams call that's open all day. We drop in and out dep

fwiw, I've always found the PureData/MaxMSP family of languages really difficult to wrap my head around. SuperCollider is another alternative, but that's a whole other discussion, really.

Is there a good video or animation of what this looks like ? I've seen a bunch of text descriptions but I'm curious how this actually appears.

What I don't understand is what people who argue against climate change stand to gain. The argument for climate change is: "humans are polluting the planet and it's causing a change in the environment and will have a disastro

What works for me is, in advance, saying that I will be doing X thing for 10 minutes, an hour, or whatever. Even when I'm waiting for something, I'll say: "I will leave in 5 minutes" and set an alarm, knowing and trustin

There's the unfortunate reality where if you make one thing censorable, you make the entire thing censorable ; there's no notion of only letting the 'good stuff' through.

Isn't this more or less the idea behind Gentoo ? I know that when I initially started setting my system up, it was a bit of a mess trying to figure out what USE flags I needed/etc., but once it stabilized, it was great to know tha

"up or out" seems like such a strange concept - I understand the idea of trimming fat, but I've seen a firing of 5-10% annually, and it's demoralizing and terrifying as a worker. You're basically put in a position w
