It is obvious from the hamfisted title that it is some form of clickbait. You can not combine something as final as "dead" and something as huge as "literature" without generating outrage with people who for some reason

Or phenomena like the SCP wiki/"dossiers", I had fun reading some of those. Now Remedy are making a videogame that looks like it was inspired by those.

What's the mistake? You pass a pointer and the number of elements, it's just the C way. At any point in time you have to pay attention. What is the proposal here? Make all arrays structures? Or add some weird un-C syntactic sugar?

I don't understand this. To me it looked like Github never much strayed (or progressed) in terms of functionality. It stayed a git repo management tool and that was it. It is obviously what people liked about it: it stuck to a single f

If anyone could stay independent, it should have been them. If it weren't Microsoft but someone else, it would be almost the same to me. There are so much things they could do to improve the experience and make it more profitable.

Or maybe it was a terrible "or else" pun that does not deserve much discussion.

Cool, I was thinking of learning this recently. I also wanted to find a book on amateur astronomy but still have no idea what exactly to look for.

Am I missing something or is it just an example from "What every computer scientist should know about floating point arithmetic"? There are some other nice ones there as well. And when any of this ceased being relevant?

Well, mixing functional and OO programming is practical, but for some esoteric problems where you want to go purely functional you might say it is cheating, this is what I meant. I guess anyone would think it would be cooler if it was self-

This is the kind of stuff I mean. I don't know if it would work but neighbors could strike all those controversial deals with gambling and toxic waste plants etc. You could also export trash as far as I remember.

> Magnasanti’s water and power needs are supplied by neighboring cities, eliminating the need for much of the related infrastructure. I call cheating.

Neat. But my comment is about the exact opposite: having a standard way to represent data in place of HTML and custom formats.

It would be easier to "make" these with semantic web. Maybe your browser would just have some generic viewer so that you would not have to make any at all.

Can't understand people who are trying to place blame on a single service. IMO Gmail has to make those addresses disabled by default. I doubt that most mistypes come from dots, so it is useless to handle mistypes. So it is only useful

This reminds me of the moment in the earlier years of YT when I realized that production of a lot of the content there I would not even care to scoff at is a real job for those people and "youtuber" is actually their full time job

Looks like most people in this comments section are afraid to pass for a luddite if they don't support cashless transactions. But the argument about centralized system watching every payment you make is still valid. Why are people so e

Paper creates mess when you write on it (barring stuff out and erasing pencil are both messy) and afterwards (pile it or throw away, arguably more mess than used markers).

Those are actually enforceable by IDE or interpreter/compiler if implemented. Even if this wasn't the case, it is better than some arbitrary variable naming convention or comments format.

So PEP 484? You can write out whatever and then add annotations (at least to the API).

The comment author went into a yellow newspaper grade rampage here, (huge) overstatements like > the country is being literally, fucked, by Russia and the West > the whole country is / was about to explode > people ... are lit
