In Germany, I find that this is one of the (many) beauties of shopping at the farmer's market. If I need 3 carrots and 2 onions and 6 potatoes, that is very easy at the Samstagsmarkt. Buying sausages or meat from the butcher or the m

Don't be sad on my account. I actually like them very much. They are funny and persistent. I watched one yesterday try to outsmart a crow for a piece of cheese. That she even tried was pretty courageous. We have an obviously-paire

Would that turret will work for pigeons landing on my balcony? Or better yet, to protect my air space by squirting them on a fly by? That'd be some sweet fun. :-)

Can't recommend Foundation for Emails highly enough for rendering html. I found it super easy to use (Moustache templates) and very flexible for managing multiple versions (translations) of a newsletter. The assignment I had was to wr

I really enjoy using are.na ( https://www.are.na/about ) for collecting images and random bits of text into spaces where I can view them together. It's a small, creative community and definitely not of the repost, repos

Yes, I was surprised in my forties to notice that (for me) this is strangely important. In my calendar I keep "deathdays" as "//persons_name" and when I do, I am thinking of the "//" as &qu

As I understand it, the electronic ones are not recommended for pressure canning because you can't be absolutely, positively sure they reach a certain pressure. Best stick with your old-school model for pressure canning.

Are both artists. He who can shut down his head when it gets in the way, is an artist. He who can produce astonishing things without the use of his hands is also an Artist - of a very special kind. As far as I can tell, Heart is at the h

I have often had the urge to hang numbers. They are problems looking for a place to happen. Letters, on the other hand, are always ready for a chat. ;-)

The best advice I ever got about journalling was something to the effect of removing the fear-block by not journalling about anything I wouldn't say in person. It was enough to get me started. By getting started like that I learned t

We listen to RadioParadise(.com). It's "new music" and "old music" that pretty much dances all over the Time and Styles matrix. The DJ, Bill Goldsmith has a real talent for delight and his eclectic choices make me

That looks useful. If you can help cut down on the task-switching pain involved in setup and moving from one project to another, I know I would be grateful - and more productive. I'll try it when the Linux version comes out. Thanks

My dad was a traveling salesman (self-employed) and he was away a lot during the week, but only in the Winter. He was always home on weekends. That's when Mom "slept in" (I suspect, with a good book and a cup of coffee). A

Having a dog always counts. I once read (somewhere?) a story about a woman who had many dogs over her lifetime. She felt that dogs give us pieces of their hearts every day but of course, when they leave us, they take great chunks of ours.
