Same pattern over and over, futuristic hardware, closed source software. This looks boring to me. I don't expect anything ground breaking from it. It's gonna be an iphone sticked to your eyes. Those big tech companies remove all t

After the Kardashians, the world needs a new reality show: the rustaceans. Somewhere btw Dallas and the youth and the restless.

I don't know if what you say is true but this looks just like an excuse for them to get rid of you. Not a great place to work anyway.

Yet another (over hyped) llvm programming language. Remember when JavaScript framework fatigue was a thing?

Every day I see a twitter quitter tweeting back again. Looking at their mastodon, no likes and no interaction with their account.

no need an extra layer of abstraction to get an "in memory" database in javascript. no need, babel, webpack, ChatGpt, npm and 10000 libraries for this really. Let me show (works even on the browser): const KV = {}; KV["crede

Exactly. Just an extra layer of abstraction, no idea what it tries to solve.

servo is in development for years and last time I checked it was an extremely buggy web view that couldn't do much. On the other hand lady bird is already useable.

To me, from the getting started, it looks like yet another JavaScript framework. Might be good, unfortunately I got framework fatigue. My personal website has about 30 lines of javascript, no framework and no library.

At least mastodon is built on top of an open protocol. Those discussion already took place for ActivityPub, mastodon just implemented the open standard. You just came with a random idea and absolutely nothing but an organization on GitHub.

I hated async for months. Refused to touch it. Recently I tried it again. It (seems) way better now. Just avoid weird libraries like diesel & rocket, and everything works just as expected. I even wrote some generic code with async and

It has the worst ideas of the frontend world (transpiler) and the worst ideas of the backend world (verbosity of c#). I'll stick with Axum, thanks.

Thank you! It was really fun to code this project. I did a lot of mistakes during the process, I see some of them pretty clearly now and I will definitely try to make it better in the future.

I think rust is the new haskell. After spending 7 months learning it, I can say I really enjoy the language, but there's no job in it and in my opinion, they take academic decisions that make the language way more complex than it shoul

I hope you are right (about the MVP being flexible enough to be fixed in further releases) the problem is that the ecosystem is already built on top of multiples workarounds to overcome the problem of async rust (a.k.a the "higher leve

It's been 7 months since I didn't write async code so it will be difficult for me to give u a proper answer but I'll try. the learning curve, the cryptic lifetime compiler errors, the lack of async trait, no async Fn but asyn

I don't see how rust will manage to fix async await, unless making a v2 of the language. While working with sync rust is often a very pleasant experience, everytime I used async await was awful. To the point that I avoid using rust fo

The problem with rust is its community. A bunch of groupies acting worst than kpop stans on twitter. If you don't make abstraction and write spaghetti code, or if you clone everything, then yeah rust work-ish.
