I'm open-minded about this. If the project has a believable path to a useful open source contribution in the future, then I think it's fundable. This could even include high variance experiments that might end up totally failing.

Good question! I thought about doing that, and maybe I should, but I'm not sure what the right timeframe is, and I didn't want to pre-filter interesting projects that might not fit my preconceptions. For example, I could imagine f

Lack of experience in AI is not necessarily disqualifying. I'd like to see some evidence that the person applying is capable of doing the thing they are setting out to do, though. That could be experience shipping open source software,

Those plugins won't be open sourced. We're releasing the Xamarin runtime and all the commandline tools you need to build apps, but we're going to keep some of the IDE stuff proprietary.

Yes, you can use XAML to create multiplatform controls/views with Xamarin.Forms. Xamarin.Forms supports all of XAML 2009 and uses the XAML syntax with its own namespace and types. So, no existing XAML designer will work with Xamarin.Fo

Xamarin Studio doesn't have this feature yet, but you can use Visual Studio to build Xamarin apps (and many developers do). Split panes will be coming to a future version of Xamarin Studio, though.
