I wish we spent more time as a society thinking about how to reduce dependence on long-distance highway trips, rather than just making cars electric. They’re the vaping of the sustainability movement, which is not worthless, but nowhere nea

Your apartment complex decides they don’t want to be party to anything illegal. Just in case, they set up a police precinct in the lobby. They set up hidden cameras in every room of your apartment, and if their AI model detects anything sus

It’s not about good vs bad but careful vs not careful. Whether or not the Chinese military will use AI is a completely different question to whether they will use it in a way where they lose control of it. Giving an AI shell access is uniqu

Why haven’t Europeans been able to be successful in this area already? It’s not like there aren’t always European businesses working on this problem. It is striking that both the evil empire solution (Microsoft 365) and the underdog disrupt

This is a cool project. I’ve been very happy with whisper as an alternative to otter; it works better and solves real problems for me. I feel compelled to point out whisper.cpp. It may be cheaper for the author but is relevant for others. I

Not the person you asked, but I came to leave a similar comment. I was curious about Monica, but for a variety of reasons it didn’t click for me. I use obsidian for tracking meetings, people, and documents in a civic engagement sphere. So h

This is a really bad take. Adopting a random pet cause from the news, on an issue that is completely outside one’s sphere of influence, is a recipe for becoming angry and bitter, or idiotically throwing soup on paintings.
