I'm leading my team through a migration to Nix environments right now, and everything you've said has rung true to my own experiences so far. I'd love to hear more about the hard lessons you've learned, if you have any t

this is incredible, congratulations to everyone involved in making this happen. there's already instructions for a NixOS install, too[1] [1]: https://github.com/tpwrules/nixos-m1/blob/main/docs/

you’re over thinking it. parent comment is rooted in respecting your coworkers, not being some subservient drone who doesn’t add anything to the conversation. coming in and saying “we did this at my last company” provides no room for learni

I don’t mean this hostilely; social conventions are typically based on etiquettes, so in trying to follow the conventions of an existing medium of communication you are failing at basic etiquette of a new one. it’s all about being considera

I don't know what it is, but it feels like the JS tooling community so often pretends that the rest of the world does not exist in their marketing. I find myself having to dig into docs or the GitHub repo before I figure out what langu

I'm not sure why you're downvoted so much -- I am all in on Nix. I use it professionally. I agree with you 100%. I'm convinced whoever solves the UX issue of Nix will have the next "big thing" on their hands. I hope

I don’t want to be dismissive. “nix but with yaml” is kind of like saying “rust but without borrow checking”. if you think you can approximate what Nix is capable of with YAML and be less complicated, I think you’ve missed the point. what m

hello, I am in a growth phase startup and have been here since the early days. I am speaking from experience about a specific type of company and codebase. if you’re planning to scale a team and a company, do not do this. stick to Laravel.
