I don't think I agree that social interactions are necessary to keep one sharp. In fact excessive social interactions with people that aren't all that sharp might dull one a bit. Reading and thinking and studying can be done alone

I did the same thing except I pasted the link into GPT and had it summarize. Personally unless I'm reading fiction I don't care for backstory and setting.

Could be from listening to politician talk all day every day though. Just look at how much mental illness politics seems to produce in people who interact with it less frequently.

Surprising. I'm 54 and the coming ice age was pretty widely published in my childhood. Lenard Nimoy had a movie about it, it was in Newsweek etc (and before you laugh, Newsweek was "real news" back in those days and my parent

Trust isn't given, it's earned. This is why deception by officials or experts is dangerous, even if they think "it's for the greater good".

Never once have I seen an ad and thought "I need that" and purchased the item. Not in my entire life that I recall and I'm 54. Maybe this is not the norm but I don't perceive most advertising as being particularly effect

It does seem a bit silly long term to have something like Python which was developed as a human friendly language written by LLMs. If AI is going to write all the code going forward, we can probably dispense with the user friendly part and

How much software do we actually need though? I'm a little embarrassed to admit this, but over the past 15 years of my career I have worked on a few products the world really didn't need at all (nor want). I was paid, and life wen

As long as you are upfront that you expect AI will be used, this seems like a solid and practical approach to me.

I love coding and don't love questioning AI and checking responses. But the simple fact is I'm much more productive with AI and I believe this is likely true for most programmers once they get adjusted. So for production, what I l

So a guy closes a multi million dollar sale because the client CEO happens to own the same motorcycle and they went for a ride together? This sounds like an argument for turning it all over to AI to me. Both the buying and the selling. Thin

Probably we should keep the distinction between "best hearts" and "best minds" but otherwise agreed, a good heart is preferable to a good mind.

Let me give you a simple example maybe you will understand better. Let's say a person has a recessive faulty gene. The gene doesn't get expressed because there is only one copy (recessive). We can notate this Aa (small "a&quo

There are reasons things evolved as they did. Societies with forms of social cohesion beat those without. Maybe it's different now but then again, maybe it's not.
