Pro tip: the cops will help you if you call them and say “hey, I’m outside (address) and I can see my stolen bike, I’m going to go retrieve my property, let me know if you want to help. Also I’m armed.” They’ll help.

My guess is the path planner hits an impossible scenario (“we don’t have enough brake authority to stop in time”) and that triggers the disengagement. Doubtful there’s a DISENGAGE_SECONDS_BEFORE_CRASH constant somewhere.

Sure, because it’s given up. Those crashes are included in the safety stats.

AP safety stats include crashes where the system was active within the previous x seconds - I think x is something like 10 or 30. Plenty of time for a human to become responsible.

Wow. I feel pretty bad for whoever is doing this. Looks like they’re having fun now, but imagine the weight in the background of your mind about how this ends. Your options are probably to crash, like the Seattle dude did, to land at an air

It's not producing enough power, so it's not "enough". Like if I gave you an ounce of ice cream, and an ounce of steak, and you complain about not having enough food, I don't get to say "but it's 50% steak

Easy to test, are unqualified people able to build a massive wooden rollercoaster on university grounds in (insert healthcare utopia here) without university admin getting itchy?

My bad, what I was seeing was the free Spectacle utility doing snap-on-drag. It’s so good I thought it was part of the system.

But there’s evidently not enough natgas generation, otherwise we wouldn’t have this issue. There’s not enough because Cali chose not to buy enough (of natgas or something else). The forecasting argument doesn’t hold water for me - Califor

Amusingly, this whole thing is kind of happening because California chose not to buy diesel generators and coal. (Or more accurately, chose not to buy more efficient, less polluting versions of those things)

Places that have been civilized for longer have been emitting civilization-byproducts for longer. That shouldn’t surprise anyone.

Y’all are always talking about overpopulation - seems like if a huge population is causing huge emissions, we can blame that. Maybe we should praise the US for having a responsibly sized population.

America produces 11% of global GHG emissions, compared to 27% from China and 7% from India, yet everyone is always blaming “the west”. East? You have anything to say for yourself?

The FBI has too much coercive power to ever merely “warn”. Everything they say necessarily has a second implied meaning, and any large company understands that.
