I’ve never had that problem, using a Buffalo drive station mini (which I upgraded the 2 SSDs without issue either), neither with Akitito thunderbolt 3 4-bay thing. Both products are discontinued though. People complained about the Akitito o

If you find PDF painful because you can't reflow text or edit it, newsflash: you are using the wrong format. Industries that use PDF extensively: legal and printing. Neither of them want to be able to change documents. To preempt: I wo

Busses have to be one of the worst modern mass-transit options. Auckland NZ has bus lanes, so that is fine. But they are diesel. So they are noisy and polluting. Get two or three busses in a row and you cannot see past them. They block enti

I'm finding some of the disagreements under this comment frustrating. Movie people, please don't redefine what lossless actually means. If you find a way to encode say a cryptographic key, or a text document, say, your employment

On the upside, if Facebook was the only company that could shadow ban, that would be a win for the rest of the internet, and a bit of an own goal for Facebook since the practice is pretty despicable.

Adobe should read this and understand it. Veteran users of Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign get updates that change the default way of doing something and they don’t even provide a UI to change back. Don’t fix long-standing bugs, just ch

I was surprised by "The list of major changes to Windows in just two years, for free", - impressive. Although er, every single one of them is also on OSX and also has been for the last couple of years.

This is not so an idea of it's own. But, the thing that still wows me when I really consider it, is scales. I don't think people outside of this field ever really consider just how small and just how fast these switching machines

I've seen the boiling frog analogy used on humans in regards to climate change... Knowing the frog had it's brain removed somehow makes it seem even more analogous than less really.

It pisses me off that MS would detect a browser and block it when they have done as much as they can do to prevent web developers from detecting IE/Edge for much the same reasons: that it's not up to the job and will cause a bunch

This is great film, I highly recommend it. It was released here about a month ago (NZ). Though I didn't know that there was a 3D version as well.

I don't believe the parent is not saying that, they are saying these employers are using age as a metric but calling it 'skills'. In which case they better be able to explain what these supposed skills are.

I think it really only means 'dystopian' to people who have not read 1984. Otherwise there is a perfectly good word:'dystopian'.
