WOW!! If Bing was offering IE9 as Chrome to ppl searching for Chrome, ppl would be up in arms. No technical glitch justifies this. I wonder how widespread it is (not happening here). edit: clarity about the issue being offering one browse

yea I don't doubt it. the reason it hasn't surfaced as a best practice yet is probably because best practices for async programming haven't been a hot topic yet either. and the point is exactly that a snippet doesn't fit the bill. its easy

I think what raggi said is that there are no good _open source_ _complex_ async _apps_, mostly because when people are writing open source they tend to write libs, not apps, or end up not working anymore at the problem before it gets really

I think the best way to get started is having a habits calendar' aka seinfield's "don't break the chain". You track something like "work on this idea/project 30min everyday", and multiple times you'll try to do it quickly to 'get rid of the

For the record, I type in portuguese and spanish in dvorak and think its still superior to qwerty, so I don't think #2 is a valid argument at least for me, might no be to you as well.

There's a legend that emperor Augustus wanted his month to have 31 days as well, just like Julius, and that's why we have 31 days on both months.

you shouldn't declare your sass variable 'blue'. If it becomes green in the future, you'd have a 'blue = green' assignment. Even 'color1' would be a better name.

Yeah, but you could always try and buy a used textbook from a student, and pay $50 instead of the original $230, no? Of course that would be hard. You'd have to find a student which is selling, and then seeing if the book is well preserved.

I'm sorry if I'm making it bigger than it is. I really just mean to make it as big as I think it is. The more comfortable claims seem to be echoed by a lot of other dvorak typers here as well. Also, the pinky strain is echoed a lot, even if

I tried the programmer dvorak and, though it has some more accessible keys, the number keys as 753190246 and the fact you needed to type it holding shift (or pressing caps) eventually seemed worse than normal way, point being I type a lot m

Vote up for people trying Colemak. I'm all for people exploring with their typing layouts and seeing what works better, even if I haven't tried it myself.

hey, I absolutely agree about my anedocte not applying to everyone else. What I wanted to illustrate was cases where, piracy not being an option, people just actually buy the games, rather than not buying as some people believe. As for the

But of course. I understand all of those complaints, and I think they all make sense. Though, look at how spoiled we've become by piracy. Now, we say we'd only buy something if we the exact same experience as we'll have with the final pro

I have to say that I'd need more time in order to properly think through your argument right now, and I don't have such time at the moment. But the first thing that comes to mind is that no, these people shouldn't be ignored. This feels lik

Actually, in many places (specially what we call '1st world countries'), removing the 'morals' makes almost all theft rational economic choices. This doesn't make people steal the small store where they are not looking at you. That would ma

There's still plenty of options to "try before you buy" in the legal market. If its a game, you can rent it, or borrow it from some friend. In many platforms games will have a demo for you to download before you play. Most magazines and web

I don't think this argument really holds. Saying that you couldn't afford an item and therefore wouldn't have spent any money on that doesn't really mean you'd never spend any money on that given a free pirated option wasn't available. Th

Dvorak does have some cons, but I'm not sure yours are really the most relevant. 1) Most OSs allow you to switch layouts with a hotkey like left and right Alt, right Alt+Ctrl, etc. (ubuntu and osx at least) 2) Typing on internet cafes, is n
