why would firmware or OS be UPloading? os and firmware updates come down. no need for a device to be pushing anything at all upstream, IMO.

my comment was sarcasm/rhetorical, 11% cant tank 89% of a market. however, to answer your question, i would guess the majority of US based HN readers are in that 100k+ bracket. the audience here skews very high income i would guess.

Coinbase, taking a play from PayPal. It’s disgusting to me that these companies hold billions in others’ wealth but don’t think it’s a problem to not have proper support until they are absolutely forced to.

Playing devils advocate here but maybe we have too many fire fighters? I have four good friends that work in metropolitan fire houses all making well into the six figures. They constantly joke about how they get paid to do nothing and haven

a quick search found me this: "During spring and summer, bears eat around 5,000 calories a day, but in the fall, they are trying to eat up to 20,000 calories every day." Gives me a stomach ache even thinking about it.

FOSS is strange to me, some are trying hard to raise money to fund open source, while others appear to be asleep at the wheel. I have reached out to one large project we use a lot at work, multiple times, looking to make a donation, never h

i know first hand that facebook has tried repeatedly to solve problems with computers they KNOW can be solved by humans, but humans are more expensive. its about money, not the lack of ability.
