Many if not most large corporations employ anthropologists who conduct ethnographic studies of how people all over the world use technology. Toilet jokes aside, this is not at all out of place.

I don't know much about banking, but what you say is definitely not true of programming. It's just not competitive like that. So, I might say it would be wise to go for the banking internship. If it doesn't work out, programm

You would think we'd have editors by now that could, say, hide all the tests to declutter the code while you're reading it.

I think I agree, but the existing scale does have one redeeming property which is that it makes very clear which countries have the most and which have the lest depression. Both the red and the blue stand out against the middling regions, w

For my part, I didn't use Everpix because I actually want to edit my photos and just save the best ones. I keep less than 5% of the photos I take. Everpix tried to do the editing for me, but software will never win that game.

People here with critical perspectives are missing the point. "Where's the value?" The answer is that the people who make this music are not making music for you . They make it more as a personal challenge and/or to one

I really wish a proper version of Hypercard was in this emulator. I'm too young to have used it at the time, but from what I've read it stands for an important ideal of what personal computers can be that's been forgotten and

I dropped out of CS in the first year, switching to design, and it was a great decision for me. I did make the mistake of trying to work as a UX designer and programmer for a year after school, and thanks to that I share all of your misgivi

Working on calibrated equipment is about having a neutral, uniform reference so that you can actually see what you're doing without having to second guess yourself. You can draw an analogy to reference monitors for sound mixing. Monito

This page is beautiful, but disorienting. A few issues: 1. The content-free™ pages (single word) are dangerous... I nearly left thinking there was nothing to see. They could instead be bullets on a single page, or an animation. I know you w

The replacement of icons with text in iOS7 was wrong-headed and inconsistently executed. Not to mention that it created a bunch of messes for designers to deal with. I hope that we return to a world where icons are fashionable again soon.

You could use a filter for "adult" content. The top result for the (non-pornographic) film list I pasted in was something about "Milf Porn Movies".

I upvoted you here. Platitudes are generally unnecessary and shocks' tone was a bit prescriptive. It's just not good manners.

I'm not a huge fan of Windows, but I must say that the new Microsoft-designed fonts (Cambria, Calibri, Corbel, Consolas) strike a great balance between neutrality and character for an OS.

I have to agree with you on that. I was really looking forward to iOS 7 being a step forward in that regard, but it's as bubbly as anything else, and inconsistent to boot. At least Helvetica is nice and neutral. I think the word for al

Ugh, I wish people would stop using the FTDI chips for USB. They are unsuitable for multi-channel, high bandwidth, low latency data acquisition.
