And honestly, why shouldn't it? I work with an organization that has people all over the world – including India – and aside from time zone awkwardness it works pretty well. Advocating against remote work as a means to achieve job secu

Most people I've ever worked with treat email as an immediate conversation. If you don't respond within 20 minutes (and typically within 5) they'll send another, try me over chat, or even call and immediately go "did you

This seems like as much of a non sequitur as "skipping" syntactic elements. The comparison is clearly syntactic, and thus factually incorrect – the second example is in fact longer than the first. Sure, if you swap in another ex

I have zero experience with Qt, but I'm pretty sure I can follow along with the examples anyway. (I do have experience with React, JS, and Python.) It seems to me you're making a syntax comparison and using shorter as an argumen

No, you can’t “skip” them. If you skip them, the code is broken. The lines may well be noise, and arguably that’s even worse, but you certainly can’t skip them – counting or otherwise.

The only thing I miss from my 2015 MBP is the MagSafe charger. Hardware wise, everything else now is better I think, even the touch bar which actually means there’s some utility for me in that space of the keyboard – I never used the Fn-key

Many banks use thin clients that just log you on to a VM running on a rack mounted box somewhere. There’s a very good chance this fella has never even seen the physical hardware their system is running on. There’s also a very good chance th

I’d imagine the smell of decay is taking creative liberties with the truth. Any damp forest will have a certain smell of decay to it, more likely due to the fungus and rotting wood, than the smell of rotting bodies. That said, I’m sure bein

Arguable. At least an unknown header is likely to just be ignored, whereas a URL that’s changed to update the version will at best cause 404s, unless you keep the old URLs around. If those URLs are still recognized, but routed to the later

I don’t think you have this right. First, both the URL and the headers are in-band. Out-of-band would be you knowing that the version is v2.3.7, because you just know. In-band is anything in the request and response – headers and all – any

I have a similar take on this, but expand it a bit by arguing that any line of code added – no matter how innocuous – is a liability. It's a line of code that has to be maintained, with all of the responsibilities that come with that.
