I feel the need to move around a lot, typically alternating between standing and sitting. At home I also have several normal chairs I borrow from around the house and a yoga ball. About every 2 hours I'll take a break and change chair

This is one show where I believe most agree the US remake is superior. Character development gives the US edition far more depth at the expense of trading off a little subtlety. Gervais masters cringe to the point of extreme viewer discomfo

Or meetings, meetings, and... more meetings! My 2 cents: As a contractor, charge a lot. They either have budget and want to spend it RIGHT NOW or they don't. The manager engaging you doesn't really care about your daily rate (rela

Late comment. There is an audio book of Snow Crash that strikes the right tone (a bit flat?) and the humor of the work is not lost. Makes for the right amount of background noise for some coding activities if you've already read the bo

Clearly the interviewing Googler with a 250k salary doesn't value a decent wrist watch where whole minutes and hours tick over nicely in a single movement. ;-)

Hilarious. Long time Thinkpad fanboy here until I finally needed Lenovo support and it took 1 month to get a faulty part fixed under a next business day support plan. The replacement was faulty. Replaced again (a little quicker this time) b

That's what I read into it. While nature vs nurture is fun to speculate on, when raised in criticism of another's work it is usually only speculation and otherwise unproductive. Also often ignored is that they are somewhat conflat

I see it less as forced collaboration and more as a vehicle for high frequency interruption, which is a core tool of what I call panic or chaos management. At most places I've been, team management and inter-team cooperation are both s

There's a lot of variance in the employment processes of $$$MEGACORPs. Your attitude to give it a go and maybe learn something is admirable. I suggest you incorporate risk/variance into your time investment formula next time. And,

I'll never forget the basic message from my first day of motorcycle training: you can argue about who was right from your hospital bed, or you can take responsibility for your own safety at all times/under all circumstances.
