"The Great Filter" is the only non-egotistical, and therefore IMO the only valid explanation. Even then, people still believe in egotistical great filters such as global thermonuclear war. We already have evidence of an extinction

It's not a difficult problem as long as you have radar/lidar and not just computer vision as input. I understand computer vision could be used as primary input, but IMO it should be mandatory to have some kind of proximity sensor

Context matters in roadkill statistics. If a human driver risks causing more accidents on the highway when distracted and tired, a driving assistant risks causing more accidents in the city streets where there are more opportunities for fai

China doesn't take the world's plastic anymore, that comment is now 4 years outdated. Since then, some of it was shipped to south-east Asian countries but they started cutting back soon after. That being said, plastic is a problem

It's better than doing nothing, but the UAE has more than enough homework regarding carbon emissions reduction. Its per capita footprint is 25t CO2, 75% more than the USA, which itself is 2.5x that of the EU. https://ourworl

They can't afford diverting a highway or making the necessary infrastructure changes for it, they are a small town of 300 people with low income. Furthermore, highways are usually the responsibility of county or state governments.

Drivers still have personal responsibility, I absolutely agree with that. Regardless, any infrastructure where drivers can transgress rules easily is bad infrastructure. This is the case here. The highway runs straight through, the protecti

No. OP was suggesting we shouldn't denounce the bad things he's doing, because of the good things he's doing. My point is, should we wait for the bad to outweigh the good, and who will be the judge of that?

Elon Musk isn't just "denouncing woke twitter". He is actively, politically involved in Mexico border crossing debates, meeting with politicians and border patrols, etc.
