I rather suspect the current IBM system the software runs on is much quicker than the original system it used to run on. That can increase the probability of a data race occuring.

I've had a play with this in a VirtualBox VM running Gentoo hosted in Gentoo. Very nice but some issues, segfaults quite a lot and the display doesn't seem to get updated correctly, moving mouse leaves black spots on the screen. I
