Altering the flash chip would be too obvious. It's a textbook 101 supply chain attack... Looking at the flash image (dumping it) or chip (x-raying it) would be the first thing anyone would do if they suspected something fishy. A tiny S

You could be right. But stuffing megabytes of a full copy of the BMC flash image in such a chip may be overkill. You could just as easily man-in-the-middle bytes sent by the legit flash over the SPI DO line...

Except... a key word in the article makes the hack perfectly believable and feasible: "baseboard management controller". If the chip is inserted on the serial data line between the SPI flash memory and the BMC CPU, then, as an ex-

Well this D-Link router shown at CES is "tri-band" (a misnomer, it should be called "tri-channel") so "11 Gbit/s" is just the sum of the maximum data rate achievable in 3 different channels (one channel in

"AC only supports 5gz." That's not an accurate statement. "802.11ac" denotes a set of features, and many of them apply to and benefit the 2.4 GHz band. For example 256QAM encoding boosts the max data rate by 20 or
