I was like this some years ago. My assumption was that nobody can guess my password, because it is not straightforward. Untill someone explained that if someone new one password, he would know them all. Only then did I start using Keepassxc

A few things that pop up for me: 1. Tabs in browser and other applications. 2. Font rendering, hinting, anti-aliasing and subpixel rendering. Together with high-resolution screens for more people. 3. Better multi-threading for applications.

In overpass the query to do is 'craft=brewery'. http://overpass-turbo.eu/ With mapbox, this is probably not too hard to create, though I have never worked with mapbox. For arcade games (and pinball machines) the l

Gnome is very much using the GPU for rendering its GUI. They chose a tradeoff to work well on new systems. But using something like Windowmaker, Icewm, Blackbox, Openbox should be fine. Xfce, Lxde and other lighter desktops might work too.

A strange thing about that wikipedia page is, the theory was posited as central to autism, but there is no research cited from after 2010. If it is so central to the autism spectrum, howcome this article is just a bit more than a stub.

A few things that stuck out to me. SuSE supposedly failed. I don't know who told him that. He might have expected it to be a RedHat or Ubuntu by now, which it isn't. But failed is very black and white. I would argue, if they still

Yes. The way to make it work is to use fiters in your mailclient. All mail to dev@ goes to its own folder, all mail to discussion@ to its own folder, all mail to support@ to its own folder. You only look there when you feel like it. Your in

That is considered rude in the Netherlands as well. But yes, many people do it. And you know that if you are out of sight, they will talk that way about you. It's a certain way of lashing out or letting go in an emotional way, some way

Huh, why is this downvoted? In the Netherlands, efficiency is part of communicaton, especially in cities. In more rural places people connect a bit more and take time for eachother. These are different rules. And yes, sometimes Dutch people

You almost make it sound as if there are no solutions :) Education is an idea, let people know what the risks are and what symptons are to go see a doctor. This could be a mandatory magazine at shops. People at risk could get better treatme

There is not one single cause for the onset of psychosis but many factors at play. Cannabis use can be a cause. Early interception of people at risk and treatment, does bring down the number of young people having a first psychosis.

Sure, the duopoly of app stores and browsers as a disruptor is a big story. But can I take offense of all this "The biggest story"? I see it so often, especially here on HN, and it feels overly dramatic. Maybe even self-centered,

And then the service stops, for business reasons, and the user is left holding the bag. This is very much the opposite of the spirit of free software. It's a feudal system.

I'm not the parent. But in the last 5 or 8 years, Linux swap has mostly been useless to me. I run a desktop with 16GB ram, have swappiness set to 0, and even when using maybe 5GB or 7GB for running programs, it wants to swap out all ki

The idea works longterm. You take aspartame, which has a sweet taste but no energy. Your body starts all kinds of digestive functions and gets confused. After a lot of aspartame it doesn't know how to respond to sweet food anymore.
