I always saw intelligence as a willingness to acknowledge what you don't know and withdrawing from comment or discussion about things you don't understand well enough to have an informed opinion on. Unfortunately, this kind of hum

Yes, and in most cases you need a bank account or at least a debit card to buy crypto to begin with. I'm long crypto but i think the argument of banking the unbanked is a bit contrived, much like the store of wealth narrative in the fa

i think it depends on your goals. If you're ambitious and driven and willing to take on extra responsibilities - perhaps with little immediate reward then go for it. For some, it's more about finding a balance to avoid getting too

I think because you were a developer, so you have that appreciation. I've always preferred working with PM's who were actual Developers. It just makes your life easier.

I like the comparison :) Well I would say that Wally is a true pragmatist, whilst Dilbert is an eternal optimist - despite the reality of his actions never meeting his expectations. Wally has learnt his lessons unlike Dilbert. It's kin

Yes, it does depend a lot on the environment. Many cases, the stakeholders don't have an appreciation for what you're suggesting or even the consideration to balance your workload: "Oh, thanks for bringing the problem to my a

I totally agree. Don't be "pro-active" be "re-active" - is my way of putting it. Frankly, most orgs will not reward pro-activity, in fact you can even be punished for it, since if a problem is not yet known by stake

A lot of Banks already charge account fees, service fees, overdraft fees, maintenance fees, transaction fees - I'm sure there is more. And they are also loaning out your money to others at a non trivial rate of interest.

It's the brutal reality. But the argument is a moral and ethical one - not the subjective value of an individual's contribution.

You could say that an extrovert is someone who is more inclined or predisposed to seeing the good in others whereas someone who is "sad, lonely" is more predisposed to seeing the bad. Reminds me of the film There Will Be Blood, wh

Wouldn't it be difficult to find other developers that are experienced using Elm? I don't know much about it tbh. Probably, one of my biggest career mistakes was opting for a little known PHP cms instead of WP as I thought it woul

A subscription model for a browser seems like a very, very niche market to me - but then that's the vim angle. For me, hard to justify $15 for a relativity feature-lite browser. You would need a stronger value proposition. I think most

Companies like this that depend on large MNC fixed contracts have limited capacity to grow or innovate. They provide a basic service at a fixed annual fee. So they grow by cutting from their employees. Remember a similar situation in India

Isn't this why many companies outsource. They can get away with these shenanigans whilst keeping a level of distance and feigned unawareness.

I agree. The reactivity system is definitely less verbose in Vue compare to React. And when you start working with things like Redux it gets very layered and complex very fast.

Anyone moved from React to Vue. I've been reading the Vue docs and I like some things about it but the compositional model seems a bit more confusing compared to React. Also, I think I do prefer working with JSX versus using html templ

Yes, I'm in the same boat. I often interview people who should not be labelling themselves as developers. I think this is just a reflection of the oversaturation of this market. The answer to everyone's problem seems to be "l

Trying to read between the lines, why are most companies pushing for a return to the office? Does it really just come down to the personal insecurities of management.
