With a small team, the idea of having different jvm settings per service was daunting as we so far have found Go to work well for all use cases. We also needed fast start times and hopefully graal continues to mature. We also worried about

We (a team that has extensively used JVM before) went with Go primarily for the GC characteristics and WASM support. GraalVM was promising but seemed like it had a way to go when we prototyped on it. I do miss the nice IntellIJ java featur

A good example where you need to bend things because of the functional component use. With class components you could store member variables instead of using refs.

You can swap startups with restaurants and it still holds true, not sure what the point is.

Interfaces have other advantages as well, that is an added benefit. Implementing a No Op version of an interface for tests or a simple version that uses a map instead of db calles has a lot of benefits.

I was literally looking at using Jetbrains space in a new startup and was wondering about their Russian ties. Anyone have comments on how Space has worked out (or not) for them?

Functions are nice for simple components, but any non-simple component becomes unreadable with hooks, classes are easier to read/reuse and debug.
