I have worked in remote-first organizations for more than 15 years, mostly at technology companies, both as an individual contributor and a manager. By dint of my role, I also get to meet with companies of all different sizes all over the

Very astute observation. It is sometimes worth it to take people who are unhappy in their job and/or not performing well and give them a package when they are available. I would guess there are 20 of these people at any company of tha

I totally disagree. I have worked remotely for more than a decade and run a team that is 100% remote. The company I work for is remote first as well. For white collar work, there is no difference between remote and on-premise employees.

Yea, I think more often it is the second point more than the first one. You would be surprised how often makes leaders into liars. Honestly, I would bet that the VP probably had assurances from his leadership that what he was telling you

You are right about this, but in this case a vector would represent a collection of words. Getting the k closes entries would show the k closest text entries to a given query. This is super interesting for "semantic" search, wher

As an anecdotal comparison, over the last year or so, I have lost about 15% of my body weight through diet and exercise, going from 220 down to 190 today. I did this with exercise (walking exclusively for six months, then shifting to walki

Super interesting idea, especially combining text + LLM + procedural generation. Also, a great idea to use pixelated emoji to provide a body of existing data that is already labeled.

In this case, don't they both win? Agriculture companies create calorie dense foods and then we need pharma to keep us from dying.

Just realize that recently ESPN was positioned as its own division, fully separate from the rest of the mouse. Very easy to spin off. Disney can take the gambling dollars, dillute the ESPN brand, then send it on its merry way and keep its

Amen. Even an LLM enabled senior engineer was 100x better, the situation has to be the right one where all 100x can be applied productively. An analogy -- if I am an athlete who runs a mile 100x faster than my competition, does that mean th
