I believe gitk and git-gui are written in tcl. Those are definitely things that get shipped to the user, so (at least for those parts) you wouldn't need to have a toolchain on the build server.

"My Computer" and "My Documents" first showed up in Windows 95, though. In that context, it's not really a multi-user system. But yes, I do quote all my paths excessively in shell scripts because of Program Files…

I thought most distros have basically disabled the footgun modes at this point; that is, using the configuration that would lose data means you'd need to work hard to get there (at which point you should have been able to see all the w

Wouldn't that be an application (or at most system library) concern though? The OS is just there to sling pixels, it wouldn't have any idea whether those pixels are blurry… well for VR it would all be OpenGL or equivalent so the O

That was SpeedStep? By the time AMD got to it it was just sort of expected and didn't have a fancy name, as far as I know. Or maybe I'm thinking of something else entirely…

What do those roles do? Where I work there's a managerial track and a technical track, but if you actually read the job descriptions the technical track is basically either the same as management track, or a devrel role (effectively ma

I very vaguely recall that the format works across machines (and it was used in old versions of RPGMaker)? Looks like it's actually documented now, since https://docs.ruby-lang.org/en/2.1.0/marshal_rdoc.html

Speculation, since I don't have the relevant software: - the Windows icon cache is dependent on the display configuration (in particular, bit depth, and maybe pixel density) - unplugging a monitor therefore flushes the icon cache - the

There's also no reason why they needed to have write access to post code review comments. But for some reason they ask for it and you can't deny that part when hooking up their thing.

Don't forget cross-industry collusion. It can be illegal to form organized cartels, but it's totally fine to listen to what your consultant says, even if they got it by talking to their other clients.

Bugzilla isn't so much a Mozilla product as something that was home grown at Netscape because there wasn't much else at the time, and they just kept using due to inertia. Though as a developer I'd still prefer that over Jira,
