I'm having trouble finding a source with a search engine, but I've heard of bronze age shields that were impossible to reproduce with current metallurgy. Ancient concrete recipes are rediscovered occasionally. These aren't

Just my opinion: I imagine that with neuroplasticity, there are plenty of positive connections to their current positions. Coping mechanisms can attach positivity to anything, can justify attaching negativity to anything else. It seems l

You seem like an awfully reasonable person. I figure that I should say what prompted my response was having read about agrarian suicides blamed on subsidized goods, India in particular. A quick search makes it seem pretty common.

This 'great' only applies to society as a super-organism. Are you really suggesting uneven trade has no casualties on the individual level?

Pure Data, VVVV, they have shown that data-flow programming works. They even occasionally look like circuits. Max/Msp, Reaktor, luna-lang, they show there is real demand for it. I hope more people bring those languages into the rest

I'd intuit you're probably right. One problem when people are too honest in public though is that negativity is perceived more than its opposite. Having a bad quality can invalidate your good ones sadly.

I read the article; I was just assuming that pesticide use is only thing we are likely to affect in the near future. Habitat reclamation seems unlikely? I'm relatively clueless in this regard and was just inviting comment.

If the pesticides were banned, how fast would their population be replenished? Or do they persist, akin to CFCs?
