It's actually #8 on the 2008 list. Although Toyota is the only auto maker above it (at #5). And my understanding is that Toyota is profitable. I'm not sure that's a valid excuse for GM.

Have you gotten $25 worth of testing, feedback, bugs, tweaks, etc... out of your average beta tester? I'll bet you have. If so, you should give them a free pro copy, and ask them to introduce their friends to your software. If your beta t

I'll definitely add that as a blog-post topic in the future. I can summarize a few lessons I learned here though: 1) just because people like using something for free, doesn't mean even 1% of them will be willing to pay anything for it. Hi

Sure, if you already know all of those things, and can do keyword research, etc... Many small business owners don't and can't. Hence the need for a service.

I'm 28, and while I have a number of failed startup companies/ideas in my past, my current one is a success (although it may not meet the criteria of a startup here, it's a small LLC that I've "started up"). The reason it's a success is th

Mantis is an improvement over Bugzilla, for sure. However we saw huge performance problems once we hit the 50k issue level. It was also much more difficult to modify than Jira (which we moved to). Although I guess among free options Trac

I haven't gotten to use FogBugz so I can't compare the use of the UIs. AJAX would be really nice, although I haven't had any performance issues. We replaced Mantis and Bugzilla with Jira at one place I was at, and it was significantly fas

I'm hoping that we see a big shift in the high-tech field away from big companies toward a network of small entrepreneur-driven companies that do one thing, and do it really well. Working with a network of people I trust, who are proactive

This sums up my thoughts far better than my rambling comment: "Are corporate managers really that outraged that people in their 20s want to be treated like human beings?" Exactly!
