Are they behind paying you? That's unclear. If they owe you 250k, I would probably have stopped a long time ago. If it's not you they owe, you shouldn't be doing anything different than your contract specifies.

I like the preview, but I don't like that youtube is basically playing the video (without audio) and if I watch 30 seconds, then click through, it starts me 30 seconds in.

People are built differently. I saw a heist movie alone on my 21st birthday. I prefer movies alone, along with many other things like eating out. To your point, I would rather go alone to the movies or not at all. It's just a better ex

I was poached by another department in a non-technical organization when I was young. I also had a friend who was poached by the software engineers, when he was currently doing help desk type work. Seems pretty normal, yes.

And in another way, the Amish are the guinea pig of their lifestyle. Maybe it will play out that strong, small, local communities have a huge long-term advantage in some important metric. I think it's very good that we have so many div

I'm going to jump in here, because I wanted to make a point about conspiracy theorists, too. What pisses me off most about this is that now it's so much easier for a conspiracy theorist to believe in government cover-ups of big, i

One of us! The most prolific writer of absolutely shit legacy code, in my experience, was always me. I was happy I had evolved to at least be able to recognize it as shit. Sometimes I didn't yet have a better idea! Sometimes I knew it

I pay like $94/month for DSL in a rural area. That includes a (mandatory) land line, and I'm "guaranteed" 10/1 Mbps--which I don't get. The only other options, until Starlink launches in my area, are traditiona

I have what sounds like the same one, at my business. My employees frequently print things from their phones, which saves me a lot of hassle printing it for them. I also love it, and hvae set up the wireless twice on the machine, like you s

Now that you say that, I remember it was jelly, not jam. It was almost transparent, and not very strongly flavored--probably to take away the sharpness. Thanks for the soup recipes! I had never heard of that.

FYI, in case it ever becomes relevant (hopefully not!), the standards for breath to compression ratios have changed. Last I heard about a decade ago, they had moved to 30:1 (compression:breath). Turns out it's vastly more important to

When I was a kid, cordless phones (not cell phones, but landline phones) were all the rage, and one Christmas I got some nice walkie talkies from Radio Shack. We quickly discovered that we could hear phone conversations from at least one ho
