I think this is good advice and HN would be better off if more people followed it. Besides, "Review my startup" posts are my favorite type of post and if this brings out more then I'm all for it.

Thanks for the feedback, should have a fix up shortly for the backslash problem and will try to improve error handling in the UI some more. That SO thread looks like a great resource for gnarly rulesets to test :)

Yep, and what should happen is that when you enter a ruleset that uses a %{VARIABLE}, a text field should appear to let you specify the value to use for testing. If this does not happen for you, would you mind using the problem report butto

Thanks! I've realized I need to come up with a better way to handle the special RewriteCond patterns, such as -f and -d. Right now all variables are handled in the same naive way, i.e. you get to specify their value in text form, but for th

So this is essentially a signing bonus for Tony Conrad to come back to AOL for a few more years? Man, I need to start working on my personal branding.

Seriously? Acquired for "tens of millions of dollars", half a million dollars in funding? I'm not usually the one to ask things like this but could someone please explain what they're buying here? 400k users signed up during beta, okay, but

Yeah, I made the mistake of actually getting a bit excited again when seeing the progress reports these past weeks. The wording in this blog post and my gut feeling after a year of waiting is that shipping internationally will be very low o

I agree, but in this case I'd say the problem seems to be 50/50 cofounders with no clear hierarchy for decision making. I've been burned by this too many times not to insist on a clear discussion up front on who has "last call" on product i

If I'm not mistaken the business was iPhone apps. Honestly it sounds to me like sales dropping below B/E was just a good excuse to break up the startup, clearly the breakdown of the founders' relationship would have forced a change sooner o

Pre-ordered when first announcement was posted here on HN in Nov '09. Was really surprised to see a print ad for Wakemate in the latest issue of Wired, where it seemed as if they were shipping normally. Still no sign of mine, but I really d

I like how your support options progress from "Online" to "CEO's iPhone" :) I'd like to read more about how it works, maybe see an integration guide, but it seems you only have the one (beautiful) page right now?

Without giving away the solution I would say that a well-equipped Firefox is a better tool than curl to complete this particular challenge :)

Definitely. If you want to grow, make sure you're thinking "I don't know what the hell I'm doing" on a regular basis. When you're comfortable with everything you do, get new stuff to do or get a new job.

That's true, of course, but not really relevant to this discussion. Even if your own code is crap, you're happy to work on it because it is your code. I think a large part of this, for me anyway, is that I have no one but myself to blame fo

While I somewhat agree that Apple's licensing of OS X is overly restrictive (though the reasons for those licensing terms are fairly complex), the OP is specifically talking about testing web apps in IE, which is the only browser with >

Looks like the $425 million figure was wrong (probably due to it being a sweep account as mentioned in the previous thread). How could such a basic mistake be made? According to this article, the business had $50 million in revenue the past

Sure it will, if the price you've set as max is below the current spot price, which is the only reason I can think of that would cause these kinds of delays in launching an instance.
