I love list comprehensions but my brain starts melding with nested list comprehensions. The syntax is not obvious and I have to Google it and figure it out again 100% of the time. The JavaScript .map() method is much easier to understand.

Docstrings won't tell you if your code is valid or not. Type hints with proper linting will. Shorter feedback loops = increased productivity.

I agree with your reasoning and your insight about missed value is valuable, but this is not a Python problem. It's a scaling problem. You can solve scaling problems in many different ways with different costs. Any reasonably sized com

Notice the rewrite most often will never come when you do this because it will probably not be needed. And if it comes to it that you do need a rewrite, celebrate the success of your project!

Why leave HP out of the equation? I have an EliteBook, it has two RAM slots, serviceable SSD, battery, etc. Linux works with literally 0 issues.

In general, Intel-based business laptops (Dell Latitude, HP ProBook/EliteBook, Lenovo Thinkpad) work incredibly well with Linux. I have an EliteBook 830 G8 that has zero issues running Linux. Everything works, no "buts". I do

Isn't this what serverless functions are for? Vercel, Netlify, Firebase would suit your needs.

Is Slack really the problem? To me it appears that you need to agree on a more structured process on how to manage workload and communication, i.e. a ticketing system with clear expectations upfront.

It is important if you want to fix it. If you think scrum is the problem, then changing scrum to something else might appear to make sense. However if the problem is not in your framework but with tangential organizational goals then it won

People like you who complain about scrum often complain about things that are not part of scrum. Velocity is never mentioned in the scrum guide for example. What you describe is nothing like scrum.

Yeah that's very much like scrum.

Ban cycling. Even less trauma. And why stop there, make it illegal to walk outside as well. No more pedestrians getting hit by cars! This sounds absurd ofcourse, and it is. But from the point of the surgeons it is not absurd, as it reduces

It's amazing how many people fail to recognize a ponzi scheme exchange right in front of their eyes, and then be surprised when it collapses.

This is somewhat captured in the article as well. "Managers will say they want to make data-driven decisions, but they really want decision-driven data. If you strayed from this role– e.g. by warning people not to pursue stupid ideas–

Sorry for hijacking your expertise, but why no mention of memory leaks? In my experience they can cause really weird bugs not obvious at first, and are difficult to reproduce, i.e. triggered by edge cases that happen infrequently. Or are yo

I don't understand why you mention the wife so explicitly. If anything, it will only makes things easier. Unless you have a partner that is unable/unwilling to take care of themselves ofcourse.

If that's true, it's even more unprofessional. Agree to disagree is a basic professional skill. If you don't have that, maybe Elon was right to fire him?

Yes it is unprofessional but that CEO happens to own Twitter, so there's that. The developer is trying to armwrestle his boss in public. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

On my first iPhone, I could get train information on my phone with a 1 bar EDGE connection in a few seconds. Totally impossible in 2022, you indeed need a relatively decent LTE connection. I suspect this has to do with increased congestion

First one doesn't really hold in my opinion, 5GHz WiFi has been available for over a decade and won't be interrupted by a microwave. Probably easier to upgrade to a relatively recent WiFi setup than connecting a cable in most case

In my experience, most developers hate interacting with stakeholders. They start complaining about having too many meetings, etc. Also I think it's difficult to handle both roles simultaneously. There's a lot of context-switching

I think this article overestimates the average ability for people to work autonomously. A lot of people need external input to process the context.
