Exactly. Also developers often say they want less meetings so they can do more work, or something akin to that. But meetings _are_ work. And where I've worked there was always room to present feedback is a meeting felt unnecessary.

I agree with you largely, but it's not just about PWAs. It's about open standards vs closed ecosystems. Open standards limit the power of big tech companies like Apple and other gatekeepers. I can see how closed ecosystems benefit

Of course. But PWA's biggest roadblock is poor platform support. So Apple actively going against PWAs is a major blow. And personally I'm a big fan of open standards and hate that I have to install an app through walled gardens fo

A lot of web technologies take years to achieve high adoption. The fact that it's not popular today says little about how popular it will be tomorrow.

Linux does not support PWAs without issue. Badge icons don't work for example. Quite an important feature.

Yes, but that's because PWAs are poorly supported across platforms. This is a serious blow to the adoption and future of PWAs as a whole.

This is terrible. This is basically the end of PWAs. The EU iPhone market is too big to ignore.

This basically kills progressive web apps. The premise of PWA is that it can run on any device. If PWAs can't run on EU iPhones, quite a big market, then it makes zero sense for developers to invest in building PWAs. So unfortunate.

That's great to hear, I have no plans on moving away from Authelia. I love its simplicity.

How do I integrate this with a reverse proxy like Caddy and their forward_auth directive? I want to secure my apps on the proxy layer, not the app layer.

I have Authelia running for 2+ years already. I configured it with LDAP using "LLDAP" [0], a lightweight LDAP implementation. I then use Caddy as a reverse proxy and integrate it [1] with Authelia. This works great. I have solid 2

Ofcourse there is something stopping it: money. Resources are finite, resources spent on implementing the same features on 3 platforms instead of 1 cannot be spent on other things.

The web is/has been//will be taking over and it's an unstoppable force at this point. It's the only true universal cross-platform API. To improve cross-platform experiences, the answer is probably not in spending re

Indeed Electron apps are not competing with native apps, they are competing with not existing at all, especially for macOS and Linux because of their relatively low market share.

Decision making is a craft. If you just go with the flow, you'll not be very likely to achieve optimal results. I think for every large enough team, you should be explicit about how decisions are made, and why they are made that way.

It depends on what you consider "value". Apple would argue the distribution through the App Store is part of the value chain. I think the real issue here is that Apple demands 30% always. 30% might be the "distribution value&

I think we're largely agreeing, but a fundamental difference is that actual debt you have to pay back, and with technical debt you don't. So inherently you need to start discussing the trade-offs associated with the debt, and not

The thing with actual debt is that you have to pay it back, because you agreed to do that in a formal way. That's not the case with technical debt. No one says you have to pay it back. That's why I think the metaphor falls flat

What I don't like about "technical debt" is that it's usually interpreted as "technical" debt: it's only a problem for the developers, the techies. You immediately lose the business stakeholders once you s

The same goes for the Microsoft account. That's the whole point. I have been happily running Windows without a Microsoft accounts for years. You can just skip the step during installation.
