Apple made a major investment in Adobe back in the '80s, if I'm remembering Triumph of the Nerds correctly. That's how Mac really became the platform for artists, etc. I don't think Apple "owes" Adobe anything.

An unlocked, unsubsidized version of the device would make sense. A $200 subsidy would be a much smaller fraction of this device's price than the iPhone's. I'd be very reluctant to sign up for another monthly data plan for this device, and

In addition, the NAT issues discussed elsewhere in this thread would also be a much bigger deal with P2P.

Appreciate the response and it sucks that folks on both sides are jumping to a lot of conclusions, but if litgation is pending I would definitely stop commenting in public about anything related to work you did on CrunchPad.

It's left me feeling a bit better about Google. My reaction isn't that strong because the route they have chosen obviously makes the most sense for them, especially given that Wave itself is open-source so it's not like they would gain a l

I'm pretty sure they use Yahoo BOSS, plus some in-house stuff that merges info from trusted sites like Wikipedia. Yahoo's results are pretty good, though I hope that BOSS-based sites survive whatever the fallout of the Yahoo-MS search deal

All the hullabaloo the past couple days has inspired me to try EtherPad for the first time. Death has long been a great career move for artists, but I never thought it would be that way for web applications.

Going even further off-topic, the sheer speed of Google's updates is one reason why I have felt that the pain-point of "real-time search" is overrated.

We can cut down even further from your list. Why carry around a cell phone when your laptop already has a 3G wireless card? When you want to make a phone call, you can just open up your laptop and fire up Skype! If that sounds like a really

The evidence you cite for low-obese BMI's being healthier than normal BMI's is a blogger's critique of published research which had the opposite finding. Incidentally, the first commenter on the blog did a pretty thorough job of refuting th

I wasn't privy to any actual sales data when I worked at Amazon, but anecdotally it seemed that while there was a real, reasonable bump on "Cyber Monday", Black Friday itself was huge (it probably helped that we had Black Friday sales!) and

I think you may be right, but I have a couple misgivings. The year that iPhone existed without the App Store, no smartphone competitors came close to replicating it's core functionality and user experience. I don't think that's quite true
