In hindsight the events may seem like low-stakes issues, but who knows their financial situation at the time and how they viewed the risk of missing the work issue. Maybe they genuinely were addicted to work, maybe they over-estimated the i

I’m replying to my own comment, because the responses to this all fall along the same line. I’d argue that YouTube should NOT contain this material. It shouldn’t be outright banned, but there should be sites where you can let your kids watc

So you’re telling me that AI invented cryptocurrency so that it could perform all of its calculations on powerful distributed systems. (I know this is Hollywood level interpretation, but it would make a cool movie…)

Yeah this would be bad for innovation as well. All things equal, the startups that emphasize security to the detriment of functionality will lose to those that get the product to market faster and secure it later. Not saying this is ideal (

It’s all about what you’re measuring… Ebola is less dangerous than the Flu in terms of deaths per year, but it’s disingenuous to measure it that way, and that’s what I think is frustrating people in this thread about the comparison to the F

The common comparison is used to say “it’s not so bad - it’s just like the flu!”. You can compare anything you want (e.g. COVID and Cancer outcomes), but to say COVID isn’t so bad because lung cancer doesn’t kill that many people every year
