Beware that at the moment the European job market is not looking good for generalists. We are nowhere close to a SC or Texas kind of hub.

How does it compare to a trailer park? It looks a tier or two below in terms of safety and wellbeing.

Before switching to some new tech I would go through the likes of VueJS and Svelte first. And htmx is often enough.

If GTA5 Online on PC is still going to be a thing, the smartest move is probably to open source the code and let the community report and fix vulnerabilities.

It depends. A 95%-ile salary in an average country will buy you a tiny flat in a good area. The equivalent salary in a very rich country will allow you to retire in your 40s.

I also got Netflix and Prime. Recently, I wanted to rewatch House M.D. on Prime, but it's not available in my country anymore. I'm forced to use a VPN to enjoy content I am already paying for.

Looks like all those interest rate hikes are working after all. Just not in a way that pleases everyone.

Most engineers seek a balance between risk and reward in their career. Most YC companies are a high risk for a relatively small reward.

This is annoying at worst. I search code without being logged in 3 or 4 times a year, and I'm very active on GitHub.

We are nowhere near AGI. Bleeding edge LLMs are frustratingly dumb. There's no doom out there, just boredom.

Beautiful cover. I have dabbled with terrain generation with C++ and OpenGL and I would like to learn more about GIS and modelling. The PDF kills my computer when I open it on Chrome, though.

I thought M1 was a godlike chip. Why is there a need to upgrade to M1+ 3 years later? For comparison, it took me about 10 years to replace my second gen i7.

I can see quite a few people regretting buying such an original car (to put it in a non offensive way). It would be more fair to add a clause that doesn't let you resell it above a specific % over the original price.

Also, the FAANG obsession with efficiency, layoffs, etc. will potentially make it much worse in the next decade. It's been evident with Google products for quite some time.
