It depends, for parts the only place to reliably find name brand is on eBay. Parts on amazon is mainly just a domestic arm of of Aliexpress and Alibaba.

Depends on the place, most that I've ever dealt with were spliced into the harness. You got off lucky if they went the extra mile and used the less intrusive option. Those aren't as common.

They didn't cheap out on lights. They didn't want to add a light to the cockpit because changing anything meant pilots would have to be trained on it. Airlines, specifically American, didn't want to incur the cost of training

It will be interesting to see how the paint for this holds up. One thing you'll notice is as companies try to switch from oil to water based paints the bases just don't last. There is also this trend to find ways to put less coats
