I have talked to him about it, actually! He gave me some great course recommendations that I plan on looking into. Ask HN was mostly motivated by wanting to get multiple data points/opinions.

I just built my first PC about a month ago and am still in that phase. Went from a 2013 laptop with integrated GPU to having a much nicer discrete GPU and the difference still blows me away on the daily :)

Mykel Kochenderfer is my uncle! He does some really cool research up at Stanford. Lots of autonomous quadcopter drones doing automatic maneuvers and learning how to not crash into each other. It’s cool to get to see his work on HN!

As long as there's an option to disable it, (which to be honest, there probably won't be) I see no issue with this. Personally, I quite enjoy having "multimedia trash" in my search results. I learn best from multimedia l

As a professional Blenderer, I'm most excited about Mesh to Volume. Making realistic clouds has never been easier! absolutely love the software and can't imagine where i'd be without it.

I think the really cool thing is that this would theoretically rank the M1 as #1 on the Geekbench Single Core leaderboard, above both AMD and Intel's latest offerings!

We could make an artificial magnetic field for it. Beyond current technology but seems like a viable option a hundred years from now. I agree low gravity would be a problem, but life finds a way, right? Current generations of humans wouldn’

Yeah, as someone who works in 3D graphics, I was really hoping against hope that RDNA 2 would include better RT support, but alas, guess I'll keep waiting to try and get an elusive 3080.
