That was the most surprising thing for me when I went to check out the Silicon Valley area a couple of years ago. I have no idea why so many people choose to work there. It looks like suburbia mixed in with a bit of industrial wasteland. I

Why? What is a doctor going to tell you? 3 days without food is not dangerous.

Basically this. Even though there isn't one particular cure all solution, there are many more treatments available which are more effective than in the past.

Firefox is pretty sluggish for me on my MBP. It sits around 20% CPU usage idling on certain web sites. Playing back videos makes the fans spin up. It's just terribly slow.

In addition, touch screen latency is something that never gets tested but is a huge factor in how the device feels to use. Some phones have terrible latency and its impossible to find out until you own the device.

So the solution is to abandon the hardware market and make $0.99 mediocre mobile games instead?

Poorly designed APIs are a common theme with Android. Another example is the MediaCodec APIs for hardware video encoding. They are so awful compared to iOS that it makes me think twice about buying another Nexus phone. It is impossible to d

Claiming it is easy is probably bit of a stretch. I can't imagine any large-scale web app or native desktop app being easy to implement, regardless of the tools.

As someone mentioned below, C can almost be seen as a portable assembly. Given enough time and optimization it will always be as fast as the hardware allows. I guess my point was it is meaningless to say "faster than C" because it

Every new language has someone claim it's faster than C. I'll believe it when I see it.

If they did it "right" there'll be no performance penalty. It should be executing the apps the same way Android does. I imagine they've ported the runtime to Chrome OS.

I've got an Android Wear device that sits in a drawer because it is pretty useless. Charging it every night is more hassle than it's worth. I don't like wearing watches though. However now I wear a fitness tracker (Garmin For

I am the same. I would only wear something on my wrist if it provided enough functionality to be worth the annoyance of having something attached to me all the time. Both Android Wear and the Apple watch are just not very useful. I've

Optical HR monitors aren't that accurate. They are only useful if your analysing trends over time. People that buy these fitness trackers and expect medical level accuracy are either misled by deceiving marketing or not doing enough re

It does seem bizarre that Google would put in all the effort to develop ART and then retire it so quickly.

My current IDE works just fine with or without internet access. I don't remember the last time I needed to code on a computer besides my own (which is the only use I can think for this, or maybe on something like an iPad Pro).

Having moved from Australia to the UK, I can tell you the delivery services I've used so far (Yodel, DPD etc) are far superior than any service in Australia. They even deliver on Saturdays and Sundays. That's amazing.

One can do that when they are younger, don't have a family or other commitments that would make those sorts of trips impossible (from your edit). If you are unable to do that, would you then just work all the time until you retire?

Apple is not like that at all. Their software is excellent. My guess is that a large percentage of their customers keep buying their hardware because of iOS or OS X not because it's thinner.

Spotify connect is the most frustrating problem for me. I use it at work on my laptop and it drains the battery on my phone, tablet and my partners phone (as we share an account).
