>> I'm excited that Common Core puts greater emphasis on reading non-fiction to learn skills I agree. I wonder, what other kinds of skills should be taught in k-12 that aren't taught today?

I wouldn't be surprised to learn that real time fmri neurofeedback would enable people to train to reduce /eliminate bad feeling due to hierarchy in the near the near future <10 years .

Ideally, Assuming that intel's chips will be as good as other's without a bribe, and tablet manufacturers already had some successful designs with x86, than all it takes is a small nudge. It could be in the form a bit of lower pri

The new strategy in the IOT isn't to sell silicon - they try to create higher value goods - an IOT gateway with secure software, wearables, smart glasses together with famous optical brands, etc. They're probably hoping to create

ARM is interested in a strong custom core ecosystem , not a single strong manufacturer, especially one that at some point in the future might become a competitor.

Android seems often enough and easy enough for "pirates".See popcorn time. And unless secured boot walled gardens are legally mandatory - people derive too much value from piracy to choose only the walled garden model.

It's probably something that needs to be built inside appliances. It's called "demand response"(with relation to coal power, but the same tech should apply for solar power), and there's a big push behind it , includi

Is there value in that context for a tablet with an e-ink display that's movable and could last long without recharging ?

You really discount the value of the long tail of search, which is where you get best info from google.

If taken to their limit(including sharing of trips), the economics would work so well that we could be talking about something that could replace the personal car in many many cases. That would be revolutionary.

The pirate bay has a comment system, and an option to verify torrents are uploaded by someone. It's possible to implement those in a p2p way, but than it comes close to the improved systems on silk road with reputation ,etc - so maybe

Just to make the matter more concrete, here's an interesting technology which looks like has been stalled[1](not sure if by SAWS or not), which is basically an arithmetic-logic unit that is less precise than current systems, but still

You're talking about smart autonomous peripherals. They're great, but if you need to run arbitrary code(or have the design more portable),you'll need to use the core, so it's valuable to have a similar fine grained power-g

Ok maybe instruction by instruction is a bit too much, But you could simple divide the core to many power areas(say 32), and before each code section, let a compiler set the optimal power gating for it by writing a 32 bit value. I'm su

Maybe there's a possibility to totally turn parts of the core on and off on instruction-by instruction basis - to the point where for each instruction ,you'll only have the logic responsible for it turned on ?

Even adding a large dram using a different die is quite cheap. there's a $2 feature phone chip with CPU + 8MB dram die. And integrating 2 dies in general isn't that expensive ,I've see small micros integrated with a power die

you could always use something like the mbed or arduino , and have the ability to change chips ,but if you want to access the full capabilities of chips ,you'll cant have portability ,because you lose something when abstracting.

Currently if you include xamarin, .net is among the best platforms if you care about cross platform development(with the ability to deploy native apps). And i don't see anybody who can replace that in the near term.
