If you're a company like Ford with 30,000 Windows desktops, you might look at it differently.

It's worth pointing out here that, thousands of years ago, Colorado was under water. While a case can be made for human-influenced climate change, it's still a fact that the earth's climate also changes on its own. If we&#x

I don't understand it, either, but somehow they blew through $740 million on this last year. It seems ridiculous and only underscores my argument that they aren't really a tech company. If I pitched needing $740 million to creat

It's the first step. No one has successfully deployed a Linux desktop to the mass market and I've outlined how MS could. And I think they will. It's actually a Very Good Thing for Linux because it cements its position as the

Entrepreneurship is amazingly cool and arguably the basis of the history of the United States. Sure, it's hard, but it offers many rewards that working for someone else can't touch.

A high school student could write the Uber app. Has it been replicated? Of course, by Lyft, for example.

Uber spends far more on app development than any taxi company ever spent in radio dispatch. There's no economy there. Uber is a great example of a company that sounds great but, in practice, has no economies to offer. It's worth

You don't need a CS degree to see that it's simple. The Uber app has only a few basic functions: Get the user's GPS location. Get the GPS locations of nearby cars. Pick the closest car. Collect payment. Send a dispatch messag

I predict that MS will be the ones to finally bring about a Linux desktop with mass market adoption. They'll do it by making it look like Windows, act like Windows, work with Windows files, and run Windows apps through emulation or vir

What part would be driver-owned? The elephant in the room here is that the economy of scale from a taxi company comes from owning and maintaining a fleet of cars at a lower cost than a single vehicle owner would pay. If "cooperative&qu

So, taxes, then? You can see where the problem is here. Sure, there's always work to be done. But who wants to pay for it? You said business doesn't want to. So it would have to come from the Treasury. I don't think you

Yet many posts here suggest socialist principles. There's one today about guaranteed employment. So suggesting socialism is ok but countering that isn't?

Why should people be guaranteed employment if they don't offer skills employers want? Out of kindness? If you own a business, would you like to be forced to hire someone because the government says you have to? If you pay taxes, would

Ultra click-baity title. The Y chromosome isn't going anywhere. This smells like a man-hating "toxic masculinity" argument wrapped up in the pseudoscience of one person's opinion.

This is the same company that puts cigarette ads on billboards next to schools in third world countries. I would take any suggestion that they want to "reduce youth smoking" with a big heaping spoon of salt.

Smartphones didn't reduce the cost of dispatch. Look what Uber spends on app development! The big costs in taxis are maintaining the fleet, a cost which Uber externalizes to its drivers, some of whom now have to sleep in their cars.
