I think that dead paper is not the right medium for this. I love OneNote and how flexible it is. I can quickly open a note (faster then notepad on my machine) to jot down a todo or some snippet I need or I can open my project notebook and s

I want to add to mock's point - I will trust you more if I could download it from your site than from download.com. It has become such a dump that I actively avoid visiting it. Why delegate the user experience of downloading your products t

I know it is a lot to ask but I would love to do the same for Israel and I'd like to steal some of your design. Would you mind? I'd encourage you to put the code on github, and I'll happily contribute an upvote button that only allows Canad

Yup, that type of "social proof" is really off putting. If he started with an actual achievement like making an app that made a lot of money I would have kept on reading. After I read this I quickly scanned it and decided it's not worth my

Just a brainstorm here, but would some kind of Disqus like ui that aggregates comments from HN, reddit and blog comment feed would be an interesting product? (Google search shows two such apps - one has shutdown and one is now a casino site

Well I'm preparing myself for that, but as I said, this means that getting actual apps out there will still be a priority for me over blogging, or the blog's quality will suffer. I'm kinda interested at why you chose to reply to the thread

It's a balance. I post for myself but I would like feedback on it and to learn from it. There is a huge difference between the documentation and personal knowledge base I have on my personal OneNote notebooks and the public blog - it takes

Since the discussion is fragmented between the blog comments and here, I'm posting my comment on his blog here too. I recently started blogging and my first blog post about why I blog has exactly the same reasons - control over content and

Three now. How is the most basic action so hidden? Awesome design though, I think you should add a way to import and save playlists.

I don't think an upvote is enough to show that I agree with you. Especially the last sentence. The info is very interesting, but I gave up after I opened the first tree. Another problem jerf's design fixes is that you have no way of telling

I really like the way Kevin Smith is doing stuff. I only wish he'd come to Israel with his movie. As he is way better at explaining it then me, check out his blog for his way of distributing a movie: http://silentbobspeaks.com/

I think this is a compelling reason not to use sites where you can simply click apply to be considered for a job.

Here is the one I use: http://someonewhocares.org/hosts/ I had to rename it to see the site the OP linked, and it had no preference nor any personal info. I'll try it on my work computer on which I don't have neither a hosts file or an ad

For a second I thought they are talking about exporting the mockup to an actual Android layout which made me come back and check for that option, only to not find it. They are just talking about serializing the mockup for later reference.

As everyone keeps telling you, you can't attribute that vandalism to mental health problems. It may be the case but you don't know. I guess you need counter examples to stop saying it: 1. Drugs 2. Thieves who knew/thought they'd get away wi

I don't think this rule is sufficient. Beside the other points people already raised, you still have the issue of people patenting obvious stuff with prior art (like the recent Apple vs HTC case, for example).

Well for it to be a crime there must be a law against it. Some countries don't have laws about it, meaning some places on earth don't consider DDOS a crime.

Fair enough, I guess I forgot about that. It's still a leap of faith to press a bit.ly link by paranoids like me. I should probably use an addon and forget about these.

Data you can download, identity is hard to change. For example: I can download all my mail from gmail (using POP or IMAP) regularly. If I lose the account I still have my mails. I can't change the mail amazon (or whatever other site) knows

This made me concerned. I have my own domain which indeed uses Google Apps, but I just forward all my mails from there to my @gmail.com account. This needs to switch.

Why do people post bit.ly links in places where there is no char limit? Are people that conditioned by twitter?

Your statement may be technically true, but in this case it just comes to show the stupidity of the patent system - is making a link from text something Apple invented? Probably not. Did it need to spend billions creating it? Definitely not

In Israel - pretty much everything. All the sites are broken in a lot of browsers, using questionable security practices and most importantly not accepting Paypal (we also have a problem with Paypal double converting NIS->USD->NIS).

I think it would be easier to sell small products for 1$ if the web had 1-click purchases. I would not consider paying with 1$ using Paypal because it is about 3 clicks to buy something and I probably don't want to be bothered (Unless it's

I'd argue this is not really true. Let's look at two notorious examples of "good" game dev companies, Valve and Blizzard (who I still consider good, even though I don't have any idea what's happening there since they got bought by Vivendi).
